Birding at Cypress Grove Preserve
  August 27, 2026

I wanted to have Mac and Ritch have this great experience, but Mac caught a cold days before our appointment so it he couldn't make it. So just Ritch, June and myself were guided around Cypress Point Grove by David.

Here is a link to a list of all of the birds (at eBird.org) that were identified by David that day. Click the Bird Name to see magnificent pictures of the bird and learn more.

It turned out to be a beautiful day on Tomales Bay. We arrived at 8 am during a low tide.

  Looking Southwest

David spotted this Harbor Seal so I pointed the camera and snapped this. I didn't realize its mouth was open. So sorry!

Can't help it; just a gorgeous day!

Where's Waldo? There's actually TWO birds here...

Same two birds but a little closer together now:
A Common Yellowthroat and something else. Merlin couldn't ID it.

Song Sparrow

A very blurry Downy Woodpecker

American Goldfinch

David said these Elegant Terns like to hand out on these Oyster nets.

Caspian Tern and a Brown Pelican

Great Egret and a Snowy Egret

Thanks again David and the Cypress Grove Preserve
